Comets win in sweep

The Waupaca Comets took down the Denmark Vikings at home in three quick sets on Thursday, Sept. 26, making their record 14-5 on the season.

The Comets came into the matchup as a top 10 team in Division 2 and proved their ranking in the first set. The Vikings took an early 8-5 lead, but the Comets went on a 10-3 run to go up 15-11 lead. The Comets closed out the opening set, winning 25-21.

In the first set, Peyton Carlson delivered a kill to go up 5-3. Carlson later put her team up 16-10 as a spike off an opponent finished the second set 25-18.

In the third set, the Vikings went up 11-6 before the Comets went on a 9-3 run to make the score 15-14.

The Vikings knotted up the set at 17-17 before a kill by Rossalyn Wehmeyer broke the tie and gave the Comets an 18-17 lead.

Once again, the score was tied up, as the Comets and the Vikings had 20 each. Carlson closed the set at 25-23 with a kill and finished the match with a three-set sweep.
