By Greg Seubert
The Waupaca boys’ soccer team won two of three games Sept. 22 at a quadrangular at Comet Field.
Waupaca picked up a 1-0 win over Columbus Catholic and a 2-1 victory over New London before dropping a 2-1 decision to Middleton’s varsity reserve team.
Waupaca 1, Columbus Catholic 0
Forrest Ziebell scored the game’s only goal off of an assist from Cam Borland in the first half.
“We controlled most of the pace throughout the game and shut down star striker Nadim Torbey,” coach Cory Nagel said.
Waupaca 2, New London 1
Zeke Tuchscherer scored an early goal for the Bulldogs, but Borland’s goal later in the first half tied the game at 1-1.
Keenin Polebitski assisted Bryce Boldt with the winning goal in the second half.
Middleton 2, Waupaca 1
Damian Johnson’s goal off of an assist from Borland gave the Comets a 1-0 lead in the first half, but Middleton came up with a late corner kick goal and penalty shot in the final minute.
Waupaca returned to North Eastern Conference play Sept. 25 against Freedom and will head to Marinette Thursday, Sept. 27, for a 4:30 p.m. North Eastern matchup with the Marines.
