FREMONT – Golfers can stay in shape playing the greatest courses in the country while snow piles on the ground. The newly opened Fremont Indoor Golf is located inside the Fremont River Deck. It uses TruGolf simulators where golfers can smash balls into a screen that features over 100 PGA golf courses. The computer simulations are very realistic. As trees sway in the breeze, their shadows move across the green. Golfers can play in the desert or along a seaside.
Four golf simulators are available to rent by the hour. There is no limit on the number of golfers at each bay; hence, a small group of golfers can replicate the camaraderie of playing a few rounds together. Also the Fremont River Deck’s bar is open for drinks. Already an informal Thursday scramble league has started up. Fremont Indoor Golf is owned by Bob Schnettler and Steve Van Lyssel.
The weekday rate is $40 per hour. The weekend rate is $60 per hour. Rental clubs are available for $10. There are some rules: balls and clubs should be clean. No golf spikes. Only one person is allowed in the bay at a time. Be on the lookout for ricochets—the ceiling takes most of the stray hits. It is recommended to be aware of pacing and to take some time to figure the controls and functions of the program.
Golfing hours are from 2 to 9 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
