Downtown gets four-hour parking

Posted

STEVENS POINT—Parking enforcement downtown will extend to four hours on July 1, double that of the current two-hour parking limit allowed on most on-street parking downtown. The City of Stevens Point announced in a statement that at the request of downtown business owners, four-hour parking will be enforced beginning in July after a unanimous approval by the common council on May 19.
The two hour parking limit was intended to curb the use of street parking by employees and owners of businesses downtown in order to leave parking for customers. The Business Improvement District Board requested the parking amendment due to “downtown becoming more active.”
