Pedestrian killed, driver arrested

A vehicle killed a pedestrian who was assisting another motorist shortly before midnight, Saturday, Oct. 28.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was traveling on County Trunk W in the town of Caledonia when it hit the pedestrian.

The vehicle left the scene but was located a short time later.

Officers arrested the driver. Alcohol is believed to be a factor, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. Names are being withheld at this time.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Dale Fire Department, Dale First Responders, Fremont Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office.
