Florence S. (Hale) Feltz, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2013 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
She was born on the family farm in the Town of Plover on October 23, 1920, the daughter of Laurence Lee and Ethel Violet Hale. After graduating from Stevens Point Teacher's College, she taught in country schools in the Plover area. She married Elmer B. Feltz on September 2, 1943 in Clovis, New Mexico where Elmer was stationed in the Air Force. Shortly after returning to Wisconsin, they moved to Waupaca where they raised their children near the shore of Shadow Lake.
She was a wonderful wife and mother, and devoted her time to family … always ready to play cards and board games, though a book and a cross-word puzzle were always close at hand. When Elmer made a career change, she worked by his side, helping him manage a real estate business with United Farm until their retirement. They then spent many happy years traveling with their RV, visiting family and friends and providing new experiences for their grandchildren. When traveling slowed down, they built a home to retire to, and spent several comfortable years there before moving to the Veterans Home in 2006. Florence will be remembered for her beautiful smile and laughter, her delicious pies and breads, countless knitted mittens and Christmas stockings. Most of all she will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. "See you later…"
Florence is survived by her husband of 69 years; her children: Laurence (Mary) Feltz, Ridgefield, WA; Judy Feltz-Lain, Amherst, Wi; Alan Feltz, Amherst, Wi; grandchildren: Michael Feltz, Appleton, Wi; Emily J. Lain, Hattiesburg, Ms; Laura (Nick) Goehner, Baltimore, Md; Brandon Feltz, Amherst, Wi; sister: Edith (Marvin) Pozorski, Stevens Point, Wi; Randall (Lanell) Parks, Daphne, Al; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Orville E. Parks; sister, Elizabeth (Floyd) Folz and grandson, Bradford L. Feltz.
The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements, with a celebration of her life to be held at a later date. Florence's family wishes to thank the staff at the Veterans Home in King for their kind and loving care.
