Fire at Guth's Landing and Resort

WEYAUWEGA – A fire started at Guth’s Landing and Resort on Monday, March 24 at around 10 p.m. According to the New London Fire Department, while prepping for the upcoming camping season, the owner of the property lit a hot-water heater and turned up the thermostat on a furnace in bathroom/shower building. Thirty minutes later, it was ablaze.  The fire burned through the roof and fire damaged an attached game room. The bar attached to the game room was damaged by smoke. Wildlife mounts in the bar survived the disaster. Fire departments of Weyauwega, New London, Waupaca, Manawa, Fremont, Ogdensburg, West Bloomfield, Poy Sippi, and Gold Cross Ambulance were on the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
