Food for America

Posted

Members of the Weyauwega-Fremont FFA chapter taught third graders about agriculture as part of Food For America.

Food For America is an educational program focusing on agricultural literacy in elementary schools and communities.

On Oct. 11, FFA members went into the third-grade classrooms at both Fremont and Weyauwega elementary schools.

They taught the students about FFA and the importance of agriculture. The FFA members also made ice cream and butter with the students.

The students also traveled to the farm of Randy, Lisa and Cliff Yorkson to experience what was talked about in the classroom.

At the farm, FFA members taught eight rotations which included sheering sheep, milking cows, milk house operations, horses, calves, machinery safety, poultry, swine, goats, rabbits, feeding and taking care of livestock.
