After their North Eastern Conference dual meet on Dec. 7 ended in a 30-30 tie, the Waupaca and Clintonville wrestling teams had to wait to see which team would get the win.

After using several tiebreakers, the 31-30 victory eventually went to Waupaca because the Comets forfeited one fewer match than the Truckers.

All seven of the meet’s contested matches ended with a pin.

Waupaca’s Ryan Frank opened the meet by pinning Myles Pluger in 38 seconds in the 138-pound match.

The Truckers tied the score at 6-6 at 144, as Landon Robenhagen pinned Waupaca’s Matt Schmidt in 1:34.

Clintonville took a 24-6 lead with pins in the next three matches, as Teagan Laack pinned Joseph Mason in 2:09 at 150, James Hernandez pinned Carter Brown in 2:51 at 157 and Jadyn Ebert pinned Logan Nusz in 1:14 at 165.

The Truckers then forfeited the 175- and 190-pound matches to Owen Hansen and Dakotta Thoma that cut Clintonville’s lead to 24-18.

After a double forfeit at 215, Waupaca’s Cooper Pate moved up a weight class to 285 and tied the match by pinning Gary Moore in 3:51.

Waupaca forfeited the 106-pound match to Kaleb Killips to give the Truckers a 30-24 lead.

Double forfeits at 113, 120 and 126 set up the final matchup at 132 between Waupaca’s Noah Crane and Clintonville’s Ethan Huss. Crane needed only 30 seconds to pin Huss, which tied the match at 30-30.

Both teams have invitationals scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16. Clintonville will head to the Shawano Invitational; the Waupaca boys’ squad will travel to Preble High School in Green Bay for the Willard Schmidt Scramble; and the Waupaca girls’ squad will compete at the Menasha Invitational.

Clintonville also has a North Eastern quadrangular with Fox Valley Lutheran, Little Chute and Wrightstown scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 14. Matches at Little Chute High School will get underway at 5 p.m.
