Franklin Fura, age 74, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, at King Veterans Home in Waupaca surrounded by his family.
Franklin spent many years there due to the effects of his 38 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. While there, Franklin was treated with love, respect and dignity and mutually embraced them as family.
Born and raised in Waupaca County, Franklin and his twin brother, Frankie, were born to Frank and Merdes Fura on March 10, 1950. They were welcomed by siblings, Tana and Louie.
Franklin attended St. Paul Lutheran elementary school in Manawa and graduated in 1968 from Little Wolf High School, where he was affectionately know as “Bonk”.
Following graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard for four years and then started his banking career in New York.
In 1972, he met Peggy McGeary from Long Island, NY, and they subsequently married on August 18, 1979. On February 20, 1984, they welcomed their one and only child, James.
Franklin is survived by his son James (Naara), his siblings Tana (Dennis) Griffin, Louie (Ann) Fura and Frankie (Ellen) Fura, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, there will be no formal service.
