Game cancelled? Call this number

IOLA-SCANDINAVIA – The Iola-Scandinavia Recreation Association (ISRA) has a hotline parents can call should they need information regarding their child and school sports. It is 715.445.2411 extension 5050.
Tim Welch, the Fitness and Aquatic Center Director, had the original idea as a way to keep parents better informed on any weather related cancellations.
Welch said the hotline is not a new concept as it has been around for some time. He said it has not been used to its full potential.
The line was originally used for softball as a way to communicate with parents about practices and games, with updated messages about weather as the Wisconsin springs can change rapidly.
“Overall, it does allow for better communications, which can be a benefit and time saver with everyone now having phone technology at their fingertips,” Welch said.

Erikka Flowers, who is a member of the ISRA, said her goal is for the hotline currently is to have it ready to use for soccer.
Flowers said she is hoping to have weather decisions made by noon as to whether or not a game will be cancelled.
There is also the aspect of field conditions, Flowers said. If there is standing water in the field then that would also result in a cancellation.
Although soccer will be the first sport to fully utilize the hotline, Flowers said, it will be used by other sports programs in the future.
