W-F churches provide gifts, food for families

This year’s Weyauwega-Fremont Christmas Giving Tree provided gifts and food for 43 local families.

The distribution took place Saturday, Dec. 15, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Weyauwega.

The ecumenical project involved First Presbyterian Church, Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Knight of Columbus Council 13702 organized it.

Pat Shaw is a member of the local council.

He said 62 children received gifts through this year’s program.

Last year, they provided gifts for 48 families.

The program serves families in the W-F School District.

Individuals, families and businesses from throughout the area support the Christmas Giving Tree.

Families received clothing, toys and non-perishable food items in their boxes.

Other donations for them included potatoes, apples, paper products and hams.

Church members also donated hats and coats.

Shaw said the program included support from Mills Fleet Farm, Sturm Foods, Presto, Weyauwega-Fremont FFA, Hutchinson Insurance, Bank First National, World Class Manufacturing, Farmers State Bank, Corky Helbach, Weymont Food Pantry, Dan Sambs, Kimberly Clark, N & M Transfer, Lund Cooley - Edward Jones and Bonnie Erdman.

“I thank everybody for all the donations and the time, all my fellow Knights, Ss. Peter and Paul, St. Peter Lutheran, First Presbyterian and the St. Vincent de Paul Conference,” Shaw said.
