Graduating senior, debut author

SCANDINAVIA – Sienna Timm is graduating from Waupaca High School in a few days and she will be graduating as a published author. Her first novel was released on April 12.
The Scandinavia resident penned “Cursed by Death,” a young adult fantasy adventure.
She started plotting her novel in September, encouraged by her English teacher for National Novel Writing Month. In October she planned the outline and she analyzed the books she enjoyed from a reader’s perspective, breaking them down and searched for things within those stories that she loved.
She said she often explores the histories of her favorite authors to see what prompted them to start writing books, as well as writing new stories around characters from books she has read.
She started writing the book in November. Once she reached over 55,000 words she edited and revised the novel, and by early March she was ready to get it published.

Timm said the book is about a daughter who leaves the comfort of the world to go to another continent to a princess finishing school. When she arrives home she finds that there has been a war and it is up to her to save her people and reunite the world.
Timm said she enjoys writing because it gives her an avenue to be creative, and being she is a lifelong avid reader, writing just came naturally.
“It’s entirely up to me. I have full control of anything and everything I want to do,” she said. “There are no limits to what you can write and explore.”
It wasn’t the first time she has written at length. During Covid she started writing a book and it reached around 30,000 words. She did not finish it but she may pick it back up and reorganize it and take it in a different direction.
Timm will be headed to Ripon College this fall where she plans to study English education and creative writing.
Timm used the self-publishing company IngramSpark out of Tennessee to get her book published, this means you not only submit the written copy but also the cover, editing notes and marketing information about the book.
