Gun charge filed against Ogdensburg woman

Posted
Crystal L. Zaeske, 31, Ogdensburg, was charged with felon in possession of a firearm.

On April 8, Waupaca County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Lewinski was speaking with an Iola man about a complaint that Zaeske had made regarding text messages between the two of them. In addition to alleged name-calling, the messages had involved the man asking Zaeske to return a gun.

The man wanted Lewinski to retrieve the gun, but Lewinski said ownership of the gun was a civil matter. The man then informed Lewinski that Zaeske was a convicted felon whose possession of a firearm was illegal.

Lewinski then went to Zaeske's home, where she showed him that she had a dust-covered shotgun buried under a pile of other things in a corner. Lewinski reported that it appeared the shotgun had not been used in a long time.

Zaeske was convicted of a drug-related felony in Milwaukee County in 1992.

She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of felon in possession of a firearm.
