Posted

Nelda V. Heiman, age 89 of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday morning November 7, 2023 at Aster Assisted Living, Clintonville.

Nelda “Nellie” Veva Heiman was born June 26, 1934 in Clintonville, daughter to the late Alvin & Veva (Walker) Hoffman. She grew up in the Buckbee area outside of Clintonville and attended Pigeon River School until the 3rd grade, when she moved to Clintonville with her family. She attended St. Martin Lutheran School, Clintonville until 1948, and later graduated from Clintonville High School with the class of 1952. Nelda was united in marriage to Harold L. Heiman at St. Martin Lutheran Church on August 13, 1955. The couple lived and farmed on Harold’s family farm in the Township of Dupont until 1980 when they moved to Clintonville. She also worked locally at Pamida, Hansen Glove Factory, A.A.L., Greentree Nursing Home, and Urban Telephone. Polka music and time spent with the Jolly Mixers Dance Club, where Harold and Nelda were long-time members, was an activity they loved. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont, but more recently attended St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Nelda was a member of the Garden Club, loved to work in her large garden tending flowers and vegetables, canning to her heart’s content, and making homemade wine for the family. She also enjoyed all kinds of crafting, including: painting, sewing, and crocheting. She loved helping others, and volunteering at the food pantry for many years, was just one way she lived in service to others. Nelda will be remembered as a woman who put family first; was independent, social, and always happy to spend time visiting with others.

Nelda is survived by her children: Daniel (Penny) Heiman, Ruth (Lance) Albert, & Jonathan “Jason” (Kyla) Heiman
