Hortonville dedicates splash pad, accessible playground

HORTONIVLLE – Village officials, community members and donors celebrated the opening of Hortonville’s new ADA splash pad and accessible playground at Alonzo Park Saturday on May 31.
Village Administrator Nathan Treadwell spoke at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the park.
The park and its new facilities are located at 310 E. Main Street across from Kwik Trip.
Treadwell said the project was inspired by a presentation from the LEGO League several years ago, when they presented a vision for the future of Alonzo Park to village staff and board members.
“That inspiration sparked the start of our planning process.Today, we celebrate the realization of that vision—something that would not have been possible without the support of many individuals and organizations,” said Treadwell.

He thanked Ben Andrews with MSA, who helped write the grant that secured Stewardship Fund support from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
He also thanked Representative Dave Murphy, Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara and Governor Tony Evers for their continued support.
The village collaborated with Parkitecture, LLC and Vinton Construction for the design and building of the projects.
Treadwell thanked village board members for their guidance and leadership and offered special recognition for the donors who made the project possible.
“Without the funding provided by these individuals and organizations, the splash pad and playground would not be what they are today. We are incredibly grateful for their contributions,” said Treadwell.
Major contributors included Charles T. and Jean F. Gorham Fund, Twinkle in Her Eye Fund, Darwin and Bonnie Sell, Hortonville Civic Club and Hortonville Lions Club, Hortonville Dairy Queen – Dan Draeger, the James P. & Mary Ellen Draeger Charitable Fund, SCP Inc. Skids Crates and Pallets and Wolf River Community Bank.
