Hortonville Girls knocked out of playoffs

Back-to-back days of games eventually took its toll on the shorthanded Hortonville Polar Bears girls basketball team, as they got a win in the Regional on Friday, Feb. 28, but couldn’t get the victory on Saturday, March 1.

Wisconsin Rapids 40

In the Regional, the Polar Bears jumped to an early 10-4 lead as Kardyn Peppler scored eight points. Peppler scored her 10th point. Making the score 19-12 in favor of Hortonville.

It was 26-17 in favor of the Polar Bears as they went into the locker room at halftime. Wisconsin Rapids took momentum in the second half as they tied the score 28-28.

The Polar Bears took back the lead late in the second half, as they went on a 26-12 run to finish off Wisconsin Rapids. Peppler scored 14 points, and Julieyn Martin scored 15.

Appleton East  59,
Hortonville 50

In their second straight home game in as many nights, the Polar Bears did not have enough to defeat Fox Valley Association rival Appleton East.

Hortonville went into halftime with a 28-22 deficit. In the second half, Appleton East continued to keep up the pace. The Polar Bears were eliminated from the state playoffs.

Peppler scored a team-high 16 points, and Martin contributed 13.
