Polar Bears baseball start their march through the postseason on Tuesday, June 3rd as they are a third seed in the WIAA Division 1 playoffs. Senior catcher Turner Kuhnke will be leading Hortonville from behind the plate as they look to make another run at state.
Turner is already a two-time All-Fox Valley Association, including a First-Team member as a sophomore in 2023 when Hortonville made an appearance in the WIAA state championship game.
In that 2023 run to state Turner gave his most memorable performance to date as he had a two homerun game in the regional final against West De Pere.
Turner, who was introduced to the sport of baseball by his father James, averaged .315 at the plate throughout his high school career and relishes the position he plays, “Being a catcher is like the quarterback of the baseball field.”
Always believing he will come out on top during an at bat is what Turner believes is his greatest asset while playing and that the friendships he has made on off the field made him stick with the sport so long, “The family baseball has created for me with years of different teammates and other athletes I have gotten to know from other schools.”
A University of Milwaukee commit, Turner plans to play baseball for the Panthers along with his brother, who is currently a sophomore on the team.
Turner gives a shout out to all the coaches and teammates, “My dad Jamie Kuhnke, who has coached me all my life and teammates like Kaden Kreski and Kameron Chronis where we can work outside of practice and all have the same goal.”
