Thunderbirds win in Keshena

The Iola-Scandinavia boys’ basketball team is off to a 1-1 start in Central Wisconsin Conference-East games.

The Thunderbirds headed to Keshena Dec. 8 and returned home with a 69-49 win over Menominee Indian. Wittenberg-Birnamwood also defeated the T-Birds 49-33 Dec. 5 in the conference opener for both teams.

The T-Birds built a 37-23 halftime lead before outscoring the Eagles 32-26 in the second half.

RJ Opperman led Iola-Scandinavia with 28 points and Alex Robbins added 19.

The Chargers outscored the T-Birds 22–11 behind 13 points from Jett Rogowski.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood also had a 27-22 scoring advantage in the second half.

Korz Loken led the T-Birds with 13 points, while Rogowski led all scorers with 23.

The T-Birds hosted Pacelli Dec. 12 and will travel to Amherst Thursday, Dec. 14, for the first of two CWC-East matchups with the Falcons.
