Inventor’s cooler idea makes a splash

Posted

WAUPACA – The Chain O’Lakes area is known for boating and the crystal blue waters and it can fuel inspiration which Michael Cordio found out when he saw a need for a new type of cooler.
Cordio’s family has a cottage on the Chain O’Lakes and after an afternoon of swimming he noticed every time a family or friend needed a drink they would have to get out, back on to the boat and then back into the water.
“No one wanted to be the one to get out to get the drinks,” Cordio said. “It seemed like there had to be a better way.”
That’s when he invented the Paca Cooler, this cooler hangs over the side of your boat, so a person simply swims to the boat to grab a drink without having to get out.
The cooler is made of foam and vinyl backed polyester fabric to give it a durable premium finish, Cordio said.

Cordio patented the design in early March, by the end of March he was selling the cooler online, which went viral social media and led to selling out in May and June.
Cordio said the coolers are up for preorder online at www.pacacooler.com, with shipments going out at the end of the month.
This is not Cordio’s first invention; however, it is the first invention that he has decided to take to market.
Cordio is not new to the boating industry with an additional web site he hosts that sells innovative boating and paddleboarding gear, www.recreationalinnovations.com.
The short time the Paca Cooler has been on the market it has received a spot on Boating Industry magazines “Top Products List of 2026.”
The Paca Cooler is also made in Wisconsin.
More information can be found and preorders can be made at www.pacacooler.com.
