IOLA – The Iola-Scandinavia softball got redemption by beating Amherst, 7-4, in a CWC-East match-up.
With the score tied, 4-4, going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Clendenning hit a solo homerun with one out, and the Thunderbirds added two additional runs for the winning margin.
Iola-Scandinavia outhit Amherst 10-5. Braelyn Jueds had three hits and drove in a run and Maya Munoz had two hits and drove in two runs. Katie Rosenthal had a run scoring double in the first inning. Emma Printz and Jueds each drove in a run.
Amherst’s Aubrey Chandler and Makenna Orsund each had two hits. Orsund had a run-scoring single in the first inning.
Clendenning went the distance to earn the win for the Thunderbirds allowing two walks and had seven strikeouts.
