Kolbe, Emil Albert

Emil Albert Kolbe, age 88 of New London, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2023 at Theda Clark in Neenah.

Emil was born on August 28, 1935 to the late Albert and Loretta (Rohloff) Kolbe. At 18 years old, Emil enlisted in the US Marine Corp and honorably served his country for 2 years. He then went on to serve in the reserves for 4 years. In 1956 Emil married Rose and started a family. Later in life, Emil met his companion, Diane. Together they shared happy years before their passings. He worked at American Can for 42 years, starting as a laborer and later receiving his education at Fox Valley Technical College through the GI Bill- ultimately working his way up to a millwright. Emil was proud life-long member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London.

Emil is survived by his children, Debra (Rusty) Radmer, Susan Kolbe, Kathy Kolbe, Lori (Steven) Glatz, Jayne (Pat) White, Albert Kolbe, Karen (Bob) Chaussee and Dennis Kolbe; grandchildren, Jamie, Becky Jo, Nicole, Cory, Bill, Amanda, Adam and Lindsay (Dale); great-grandchildren, Adalyne, Quinley, Carter, Alex, Adrian, Kyle, Evelyn and Wyatt, siblings; Annette Kettner, Frank Kolbe and Margie (Gil) Kolbe-Mims. He is also survived by Beaner, Nana (Corey) and Dee-Dee, Danny, Bryce, Tyler, Meghan (“Maggot”), as well as nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Emil was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Rose Kolbe; companion, Diane Cummings; grandson, Jesse Zastrow; siblings, Barbara (Clayton) Gardinier and Ardis (David) LaValley; brother-in-law, Richard Kettner and sister-in-law, Charlene Kolbe.

The Funeral Service for Emil will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. Mark Tiefel officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Full Military Rites and Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the First Responders, the 5thfloor staff at Theda Clark and hospice for their care and compassion shown to Dad.
