Posted

Several New London wrestlers had stellar performances on Feb. 14 at sectionals in Antigo, including two wrestlers winning their weight class brackets.

215 lb Preston Kruger dominates in first place match

Preston Krueger (44-3) of New London delivered a commanding performance against Bryce Seefeldt (39-4) of Coleman, securing an 11–4 victory by fall at the 4:00 mark. The bout showcased Krueger’s relentless pace, positional control, and ability to capitalize in key moments.

Krueger wasted no time asserting himself. Just 23 seconds into the opening period, he scored a decisive takedown to take early control of the match. From there, he dictated the tempo, keeping Seefeldt on the defensive and limiting opportunities for counterattacks.

Starting the second period in the bottom position at the 2:00 mark, Krueger quickly worked his way to an escape at 1:50, extending his lead and demonstrating strong mat awareness. Moments later, he added another takedown at 1:24, further widening the gap.

Although Seefeldt battled back with an escape at 1:18 and briefly attempted to shift momentum, Krueger answered almost immediately. A stalling call at 1:18 kept the pressure on, and Krueger followed with yet another takedown at 0:30. Even after Seefeldt earned a late escape at 0:17, Krueger closed the period emphatically with a final takedown at the buzzer (0:01).

William Christopher continues to roll at 138

William Christopher delivered an overwhelming performance against Coleman’s James Nowak, controlling the pace from start to finish and securing a commanding 21–6 victory.

Christopher set the tone with relentless aggression and technical precision. Just 1:44 into the first period, he scored the first takedown, immediately establishing control. Although Nowak responded with an escape at the 1:02 mark, Christopher wasted no time regaining momentum.

Throughout Period one, Christopher delivered several takedowns, followed by brief escapes from Nowak. At 0:58, 0:31, and 0:12, Christopher executed additional takedowns, demonstrating superior positioning, strength, and mat awareness. Nowak managed escapes at 0:55, 0:21, and 0:09, but he struggled to maintain sustained control.

Period two continued in similar fashion. Christopher opened with another takedown at 1:34, reinforcing his control. Nowak earned an escape at 1:27, but Christopher quickly countered with yet another takedown at 1:16. Even as Nowak fought for position and secured another escape at 0:58, Christopher sealed the match with a final takedown at 0:45.
