The Lady Bulldogs improved to 16-0 after beating Hortonville 82-31 on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and beating Shawano 62-23 on Friday, Feb. 3.
Against Hortonville, the Bulldogs led 19-8 after one quarter and 40-11 at halftime. They increased their lead by outscoring the Polar Bears 21-12 in the third quarter and 21-8 in the fourth quarter.
Brenna Heise scored 21 points, while Tara Knapstein scored 18. Morgan Steinert added 11, and Mickey Roland and Heather Paalman both scored eight. Bridget Pethke added five, and Emily Steffanus and Lexi Roland both scored four. Coral Managan contributed three.
New London 62, Shawano 23
Tara Knapstein broke the 1,000 point mark in a game at Shawano on Friday, Feb. 3. She now has 1,003 points. She is just the second girl in New London history to reach that mark, as Tracy Palmer had 1,326 points and played from 2002-06.
New London High School will acknowledge Tara's accomplishment just before warm-ups of the varsity game this coming Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m.
