The Clintonville girls' basketball team had a rough night against the Freedom Irish on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Clintonville scored just eight points in the first half, and Freedom cruised to a 46-32 win.
Clintonville trailed 6-15 after one quarter and 26-8 at halftime.
Freedom used good ball movement and interior offense to run out to a big lead in the first half, while the Lady Truckers struggled with turnovers and missed shots.
In the third quarter, both teams scored 12 points. The Truckers gained an edge in the fourth quarter by outscoring Freedom 12-8, but it was too little, too late.
Allison Shepard led Clintonville with 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals. She made all six of her free throws.
Chrissy Betz added eight points and grabbed five rebounds, to go with three steals. Autumn Voigt scored six and pulled down nine rebounds. Miranda Hagberg and Marietta Sorenson both scored four.
Clintonville made nine of 36 shots (25 percent), while Freedom made 16 of 43 (37 percent). Freedom made three 3-point shots, while Clintonville made one 3-point basket.
The Lady Truckers were 11 of 21 from the free throw line (52 percent), and Freedom was five of nine from the charity stripe (55 percent).
Clintonville outrebounded Freedom 29-17, grabbing twice as many offensive rebounds (14) as the Irish (7).
The Lady Truckers had three assists, while Freedom had two. The Irish posted 17 steals, while Clintonville earned 10 steals. Clintonville turned the ball over 23 times, while Freedom turned it over 14 times.
Oconto Falls 59, Clintonville 40
The Lady Panthers handed the Lady Truckers a 40-59 defeat on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Oconto Falls led 17-9 after one quarter, but Clintonville stormed back to outscore the Panthers 16-9 in the second quarter, leaving the game at 26-25 in favor of the Panthers at halftime.
Oconto Falls outscored Clintonville 19-7 in the third quarter and 14-8 in the final frame as they coasted to the victory.
Shepard led Clintonville with nine points and five rebounds. Hagberg added eight, while pulling down three rebounds.
Betz scored six and grabbed six boards. Allison Johnson added five points, four rebounds, and five steals.
Taylor Carpenter and Voigt both scored four, while Sorenson and Emma Polzin each scored two.
Clintonville made 15 of 46 shots from the field (32 percent). The Lady Truckers made seven of 12 free throws (58 percent).
The Lady Truckers pulled down 26 rebounds, with nine coming on the offensive end of the floor. Clintonville had four assists, 12 steals, two blocks, and 15 turnovers.
The Lady Truckers play at home on Friday, Dec. 21. Opening tip is set for 6:30 p.m.
