Julian Harold Leer, age 78, of Iola, died Friday, August 2nd, 2013 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King; where he had been a resident since 2006.
Julian was born near Norske in the Town of Harrison in Waupaca County, on January 19, 1935, the son of the late Henry and Esther (Blihovde) Leer. Julian served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Patricia Ann Johnson on Sept 29, 1990 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola. Julian worked as a lineman for Superior Electric in Appleton and as a Maintenance Superintendent at Waupaca Foundry Plant #2, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Julian is survived by his wife, Patricia Leer of Iola; daughters, Sharon Thern of Waupaca, Susan (Darren) Gerds of Iola; step sons, George Cutler III of Oshkosh, Gary Cutler of Iola; grandchildren: Kimberly Kettleson, Alexus (Jerry) Mork, Natasha, Ryan, Solia and Marina Thern, Stephanie Cutler and Gary Cutler Jr.; and great grandchild, Chase William Mork. Julian is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews: Kylie, Bailey, Addysen, Brenley and Erin; sister in law, Marian Leer of Yuma, AZ. Julian was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Leer and sister, Hildegard (Avalt) Mittlesteadt.
Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iola at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 7th, with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9-11 AM. Interment with Military Rites will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in Iola. A memorial has been established in Julian's name to the Wisconsin Lions Camp, 3834 County Road A, Rosholt, WI 54473.
