Horse and Pony Project members at show

Three Waupaca County 4-H Horse and Pony Project members competed at the Wisconsin State 4-H Horse Association’s Hunter and Dressage Show.

The show was held June 30 through July 2 at the Sheboygan County Fairground in Plymouth.

Dani Arnold, of Amherst, and her horse Shiloh won a Reserve Championship in Classic Medal and a second Reserve Championship in Timed Obstacle as well Top Tens in Equitation over Fences and Choose Your Line.

Larkin Hooker-Moericke, of Waupaca, and her horse Blackberry Brandy won Grand Champion in Percentage Ride and Top Tens in Intro Level A and Intro Level B.

Andrea Wentworth, of Manawa, and Poco Lena won Reserve Champion in Musical Kur.

The Waupaca County 4-H Horse and Pony Project was the recipient of a grant from the Wisconsin Horse Council.

The grant allowed the project to hold two clinics and build five jumps, which were assembled by Little Wolf High School technology students.

One clinic each was held for dressage and jumping.

Project members also benefited from work nights that started a month earlier than usual.

The work nights and the new jumps helped members practice their jumping and dressage skills to prepare for the state level 4-H show.
