Man found dead on Fountain Lake trail

TOWN OF BELMONT — On Sept. 26 at approximately 11:11 a.m., the Portage County Communications Center received a report of a suspicious vehicle at Fountain Lake Boat landing in the Township of Belmont.
Portage County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area and upon arrival were able to determine that the vehicle that they located had an alert from another county to do a welfare check on the driver. During this time two other persons were observed in the park area and one stated that there was a deceased male on the trail not far from the boat landing. The deputy located the deceased male on the trail.
The name and age of the deceased person is not being released at this time. The circumstances surrounding this person’s death is under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office.
