STEVENS POINT—Chelsea Renae Lehman, 31, is being held on a $10,000 cash bond in connection to her daughter’s disappearance that set off an Amber Alert.
An Amber Alert began on Sept. 11 after six-year-old Ruby Lehmann was last seen at 3:30 p.m. and believed to be with her uncle, Jordan Coyle, who is a lifetime registrant on the Sex Offender Registry in Wisconsin. Ruby was found safe on Sept. 13 in the woods near the Almond School Forest with Coyle, who was taken into custody.
Chelsea Lehmann was arrested on Sept. 16 in connection to the Amber Alert. Lehmann and her minor children recently began living in an Almond residence with Coyle. Due to his felony child sex offense, Coyle was not allowed to reside with children. Upon learning this, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections issued a warrant for his arrest.
Coyle began avoiding law enforcement, including fleeing from his residence on Sept. 9 upon law enforcement’s arrival. Lehmann is alleged to have aided or harbored Coyle during this time, in addition to permitting or encouraging him to violate the terms of his supervision by having ongoing contact with Ruby.
Investigators have indicated that Ruby and Coyle had a close relationship, with Ruby calling Coyle “Dad.” According to a release from District Attorney Cousins, Ruby left her home looking for Coyle and there is no indication that Coyle took Ruby from the residence by force or threats.
Lehmann appeared by video, in custody to her bail hearing on the afternoon of Sept. 16. The state requested a cash bond of $20,000, which Lehmann’s attorney objected to. A cash bond of $10,000 was set with the conditions to have no contact with Ruby Lehmann and Jordan Coyle. She faces criminal charges of Aiding or Harboring a Felon and Encouraging a Violation of Probation, Extended Supervision, or Parole. Lehmann will make her initial appearance on Sept. 26.
