National Night Out will be held from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, will be held in the parking lot and fields behind Madison Elementary School at the intersection of Red Arrow and First Street North in Stevens Point,
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safer, more caring place to live. National Night out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, while bringing back a sense of community.
The Stevens Point Police Department is collaborating with the Stevens Point Housing Authority, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, Gamber Johnson, and other local business sponsors to host the event.
Police vehicles and fire trucks will be on display.
Activities for youth are planned, including a water balloon toss contest, bounce houses, a junior firefighter challenge, music and games.
Free hotdogs, chips, popcorn, soda and water will be provided to the first 300 people to arrive.
Those attending National Night Out are encouraged to grab a free ticket to the Wisconsin Rafters baseball game that night at 6:15 p.m. and head to the game after attending the Stevens Point event.
