It was tough sledding for the New London Bulldogs on Feb.24 as they played host to the Freedom Irish, who came into the game with only one loss on the season and ranked number two in division three.
Freedom boasts Donavan Davis, the second-ranked player in Wisconsin for the class of 2027. Davis currently leads the Freedom Irish in scoring, rebounding and assists and has college offers from Wisconsin and Iowa State.
The Irish got up on the Bulldogs with a 12-4 run as Davis scored five early points.
Freedom was up 22-10 in the first half as the Bulldogs took their second timeout.
The Irish continued to rack up points as the Bulldogs struggled to score, as Freedom had a 42-17 lead.
Drew Kortz hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the Irish into the locker room with a 48-17 lead. Kortz led Freedom in scoring at halftime with 13 points.
The largest lead of the game for the Irish was a 35-point lead, as Freedom had a 61-26 lead in the second half.
The Bulldogs went on a run to make it a 66-40 deficit midway through the second half. It was too late. A dunk by Davis put the exclamation point to the Irish’s performance.
Davis finished with 16 points, and Kortz led the team with 21. The Irish finished the game, winning 82-47.
