New teachers at Manawa schools

Twelve new teachers are ready to meet students in the School District of Manawa this year. The following information was obtained from a questionnaire sent out by the County Post East to help introduce the new teachers to our readers.

Amy Anaya

Spanish, Little Wolf High School

Anaya holds a Bachelors degree in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Masters degree in Education Leadership from Viterbo University.

From 1992 through 2011 she was a shared teacher for Spanish at Amherst and Iola. Last year she taught Spanish-Distance Learning for Greenwood.

"I love the unexpected moments, the creative process, and the laughter," Anaya said. "My goal is to integrate existing curriculum with new technology being used in the district."

Megan Anderson

Special Education, Manawa Elementary School

Anderson student taught at the elementary and high school level and worked as a para professional at the elementary level.

"I love having the ability to make connections with students, staff and parents as part of a school community," Anderson said. "My goal is to work with students and staff to meet individual goals and become an active member of the Manawa School District community."

Tori Cherney

Special Education, Manawa Elementary School

Cherney has a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and has six months of teaching experience in Green Bay.

"I love working with students and communicating with parents/guardians," Cherney said. "My goal is to help students be successful in the classroom and increase communication with families."

Patrick Collins

Mathematics, Little Wolf High School

Collins has a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He did his student teaching in Wisconsin Dells.

"I enjoy interacting with students and watching them grow," Collins said. "My goal is to enjoy my first year as a teacher and help my students become interested in mathematics."

Judy Connelly

Reading Intervention for fourth, fifth and sixth grade, Manawa Elementary School

Connelly has a Bachelors degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a Reading Teacher Certification from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She has six years of experience as a classroom teacher and reading intervention teacher in grades kindergarten through sixth grade.

"I love helping students with skills that will help them become effective members of our community," Connelly said. "My goal is to bring about a more effective literacy initiative in the Manawa School District."

Luke Hass

Seventh grade Computer Literacy and Eighth grade Social Studies, Little Wolf High School

Hass has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, and has experience as a substitute teacher.

Being from Manawa, Hass said he enjoys the students and community and being able to help students.

"My goal is to see all my students succeed," Hass said.

Dan Koehler

Metals and Woods Manufacturing, Little Wolf High School

Koehler has a Bachelors degree in Technology Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Koehler said he enjoys showing students new skills and processes in the industry.

"My goal is to establish a good reputation for myself and my students in the area of technology education, and to get both the metals and woods laps to 100 percent operating condition," Koehler said.

Becky Marquardt

Business, Little Wolf High School

Marquardt holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She has taught at Mishicot Middle and High School, Big Foot High School and Almond-Bancroft Middle and High School.

"I love teaching students information that is relevant to their lives that they can take and use," Marquardt said. "This is the first year of business education in a long time at Manawa so I hope to grow the program."

Kevin Murphy

Physical Education/Personal Fitness/Health, Little Wolf High School

Murphy has a Bachelors degree in Physical Education/Health Promotion from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He was a physical education/health teacher for one year in Milwaukee.

"I enjoy making a positive impact on the students' futures," Murphy said. "My goal is to create a fun and positive learning environment for my students."

Molly Suehs

Music, Manawa Elementary School

Suehs has a Bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a Masters degree from Boston University. She has seven years of teaching experience at the Pulaski Community School District.

"I love interacting with students and sharing my love of music with everyone," Suehs said. "My goals would be to create fun and exciting lesson plans for each of my students."
