Paper mill changes ownership

STEVENS POINT—The Stevens Point paper mill will soon begin the process of changing ownership. Pixelle Specialty Solutions has operated the Stevens Point paper mill since 2020. Ahlstrom announced on April 3 that an agreement has been executed to acquire the Stevens Point facility. This transaction will be financed through a $600 million senior-secured financing package, with excess funds available for general corporate purposes.
Ahlstrom is based in Finland, but operates in more than 20 countries.
The Stevens Point paper mill has turned over ownership several times in the last two decades, prior to Pixelle’s ownership beginning in 2020, the mill was owned by Verso Paper since 2012, then previously NewPage began ownership in 2007, and a handful of owners before that in the mill’s 107 year long history.
The organizational change is expected to take effect on May 1, 2025. Pixelle Specialty Solutions said they are committed to working with Ahlstrom to support a smooth transition for employees and customers.
