WEYAUWEGA – The Weyauwega Area Historical Society has organized events to celebrate the U.S. Semiquincentennial, otherwise known as America’s 250th birthday. On Tuesday, April 15 at the W-F High School at 6:15 p.m. there will be a reenactment of Paul Revere’s historic ride before the high school pops concert. They will also host a picnic before that from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Throughout the month of April, look for the two lighted lanterns in city hall and also across the street at the old bank building at 118 E. Main St. where fourth-grade school students have pictures on display in the window.
The historical society is participating in Two Lights for Tomorrow, a nationwide initiative to commence the celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States of America. The famous ride of Paul Revere occurred on the overnight of April 18-19, 1775. Two Lights for Tomorrow commemorates that famous ride and uses the imagery of that shining light today as a uniting call to action for all U.S. citizens to celebrate and serve.
Starting April 15, 2025, the event is calling for two lights to be displayed in every statehouse in the nation. It will be a reminder that the visual of a light shining out in the darkness on Revere’s ride is not just something that mattered then; it’s something that matters today, and for our collective tomorrow.
Also, the Weyauwega Area Historical Society invites everyone for some clean-up time at Maasch Community Park on Earth Day, April 22, at 3:30 p.m.
