The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office identified the pedestrian killed shortly before midnight Saturday, Oct. 28.
The victim was Gerald Pagel, 77, New London.
Investigators say Pagel was assisting another motorist when he was hit by vehicle traveling on County Trunk W at Brehmer Road in the town of Caledonia.
The driver, who as of Friday has not been charged, left the scene, but was located a short time later.
Officers arrested the driver, but he has not been charged yet. Alcohol is believed to be a factor, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced Pagel deceased at the scene.
