Pfieffer Park will receive a new building that will accommodate bathrooms, a pavilion and a storage area.
The new building will be donated to the city by the New London Youth Baseball Association. The city owns the land where the building will be located.
Initial financing will be provided by the city in the form of a loan to the association. The loan will be for up to $40,000 with a term of four years at no interest.
For the city to consider giving the loan, the association had to provide the council with denial letters for a loan from financial institutions. Ted Christian, representative for the New London Youth Baseball Association, provided those letters at a Finance and Personnel Committee meeting, Wednesday, Nov. 7.
Also at that meeting, Christian informed the committee that the project is around a $70,000 project, but many of those associated with the project are providing their services for cost. He said the project would not be taking place if the full $70,000 had to be paid.
The proposed loan agreement was passed unanimously at the Common Council meeting, Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The council also accepted the donation of a new scoring tower at Memorial Park from the New London Girls Youth Softball Association.
The association approached the city in July about replacing the scoring tower. The city could not provide funding for the project and encouraged the association to seek private donations.
Over the next several months, the association secured enough donations to replace the scoring tower, minus the rollup windows. Primary donations came from the Shamrock Club of New Dublin and the New London Lions.
The new scoring tower will replace the old tower. The rollup windows will be added when more funding is secured.
In other business, the council unanimously approved repealing the soda water license and the non-intoxicating beverage license.
It approved a snow removal contract from Bob & Dave's Landscaping of Kaukauna. The company was awarded last year's contract and this year's bid is the same as last year's proposal. The proposal prices are $55 for the first 100 feet of a lot and $2 per foot over 100 feet.
Bob & Dave's Landscaping was the only company
