Police arrest sex predator

Posted

WAUPACA - On Aug. 25, a 12-year-old girl ran away from home and her mother reported it to the police.  They had her description and knew what kind of clothes she was wearing.

According to the criminal complaint, Officer Holden of Waupaca Police Department and Sergeant Krueger of Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office checked the downtown area. Krueger got a radio tip that a staffer at Kwik Trip saw a girl in the parking lot five minutes ago that fit the description.

At 11 p.m., Sergeant Zube of the Waupaca Police Department located the girl on the downtown cameras. She entered the alley next to Mexico Bar and Grill on E. Union Street. Zube observed her meeting a person in the alley but then they disappeared from the camera angle. He called Krueger and directed him to the alley.

Zube tried other cameras and seen a person enter a red car. He could not tell who it was.

Sergeant Krueger checked the red car and found the victim and Jaime Rodriguez Zambrano, 38, in the back seat.

Zambrano got out of the car and said he met the girl in the restaurant and said the girl told him she was 20 years old.

Detective Sergeant Brockman and Deputy Muske of the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene.

Brockman pointed out that Zambrano’s zipper was open.

Meanwhile the girl was still in the backseat and Sergeant Krueger asked her what happened. She said she met Zambrano in front of the restaurant (where he works as a waiter) and he asked her how old she was. She said she was 19 years old because she did not want to say her real age.

The girl said Zambrano twirled her around like a dance move and told her how beautiful she looked. He told her to meet him on the side of the building by the garbage cans. Over there, he pulled her to him and started kissing her and then they went into the car. This occured around 10 p.m. They continued kissing and Zambrano touched her sexually until he had to go back to work. He told her to be back at 11 p.m.

The girl met him again at that time in the alley and they moved to the car and they resumed kissing and touching and then furthered their sexual activity until Sergeant Krueger arrived.

Detective Sergeant Brockman obtained a consensual DNA swab from Zambrano and he placed Zambrano under arrest and handcuffed him and took him to the Waupaca County Jail.

The police notified the girl’s mother and she arrived and was reunited with her daughter.

The police located a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) nurse to perform an exam in Appleton. The nurse found an injury that was consistent with the girl’s report of a painful moment during their sexual activity.

The next day while waiting for a Spanish interpreter, Detective Sergeant Rodenz and Sergeant Zube spoke with Zambrano as the jail. “We didn’t do anything to each other,” said Zambrano.

He was read his Miranda warning via an interpreter on the Lanaguage Line and Zambrano declined to speak further.

Zambrano is charged with for two counts of child enticement and two counts of first degree sexual assault of a child/sexual contact with a child under age 13.
