Purchasing new ADA access lift

Cost: $8,103

Posted

NEW LONDON – A new ADA accessible lift for the hot tub at the New London Aquatic and Fitness Center will be purchased for an estimated cost of $8,103.
The New London Common Council approved the purchase when it met Sept. 16. The new lift will replace the current hot tub lift.
At the Sept. 10 New London Capital Project and Equipment Committee meeting, Ginger Sowle, director of Parks & Recreation for the city of New London, told the committee that the purchase of two ADA accessible lifts are included in the 2026 Capital Projects and Equipment budget. Those two lifts were meant to replace the current lift for the hot tub and one of the two lifts for the swimming pool.
Sowle said the lift for the hot tub needs to be replaced now.
Even though one of the lifts for the swimming pool is in disrepair, Sowle said the city is still in compliance since the swimming pool still has one working lift. The lift purchase for the swimming pool will remain in the 2026 budget.
