CLINTONVILLE – A portion of the chain link fence that was damaged during the flooding in April will be replaced at a cost of $3,830.
The Clintonville Common Council approved spending the funds to replace the fencing when it met for its July 14 meeting. The funds will come from the city of Clintonville’s 2026 operation funds.
At the meeting, Clintonville Public Works Director Justin Mc Auly told the council that during the flooding in April, more than 80 feet of chain link fencing was torn off the concrete wall along the river. He said the city is looking to replace that fencing, adding that it is possible that federal or state disaster funds could help pay for that, but that is not guaranteed.
“At this point we don’t know where we stand with those funds, but we need to go forward and replace the fencing that we had there,” Mc Auly said.
The low bid for the fence project was submitted by American Fence Company. The new fence would be black.
“We went with a black coated fence to match the black fence that’s there now,” Mc Auly said. “We have a black DOT colored fence that goes along the riverwalk and up Main Street. We just wanted something that would match.”
