Schools get trauma kits

Posted

STEVENS POINT—Schools in the Stevens Point Public School District will begin the introduction of trauma response bags in their buildings. Each bag includes life saving emergency tools such as tourniquets, chest seals, compression tape, gauze, and more. These resources are intended for staff to use in emergency situations before first responders can arrive.
School staff has participated in training with the equipment as part of the “Stop the Bleed” training. Trauma response bags will be centrally located within school buildings and easily accessible.
Portage County officials have expressed their goal to make trauma response bags a county-wide resource, with their efforts working towards a trauma response bag being in every Portage County school by the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.
“This is a meaningful step forward in school safety,” said Cory Hirsbrunner, superintendent for the Stevens Point Area Public School District.
