Baraka Makalin-SPASH

Coming off a season in which they went 23-4 and made the trip to the sectionals, the Stevens Point Panthers returned several seniors in the 2024-2025 campaign. Baraka Makalin is one of the seniors expected to take the lead, as he was a Wisconsin Valley Conference Honorable Mention a season ago.

Baraka, who is on the top senior defensive player watch list, has averaged 10.9 points per game through the first eight games of the season.
Beginning the sport of basketball at the age of five, Baraka was introduced to the sport by his grandfather.

Barakas’ favorite part of basketball is his team: “My teammates. They make it easy for me, and they are great friends.”

Barakas favorite moment in basketball is his first playoff win, and believes his strength is the biggest asset to his game.

The career Baraka has had so far he is grateful for, “It’s awesome, I just thank God. I am so blessed.”

Continuing his athletic career in college is what Baraka looks to do, along with completing his degree as he hopes to double major in Marketing and Criminology.
