Rodger G. Shelley, age 69, of New London, Wisconsin, passed away on May 18, 2025, alongside his wife, while relaxing at home on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Rodger was born on July 4, 1955, in New London, Wisconsin. He spent his entire life in the area. He worked at Tyson Foods (formerly Hillshire Farm) for 48 years, earning the respect of his coworkers through decades of dedication and hard work. Rodger enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found camping, fishing, or bird hunting. He and Joan shared a love of quiet getaways to Southwest Wisconsin, regular walks in Hartman Creek State Park, and visits to Starbucks. Easygoing by nature, Rodger was known for his laid-back personality and his fondness for old-fashioned and clever sayings that always brought a smile.
Rodger is survived by his loving wife, Joan Shelley; his son, Jason Shelley, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; and his grandsons, Alexander and Zavier. His grandsons brought great joy to his life.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Truman Shelley and Lucy Wege, and his sisters, Lynn Shelley and Connie Spiering.
He will be missed deeply by his family and those who knew him.
