Manawa drops home opener

The duo of Laney and Cali Havlovitz lifted Wild Rose’s girls’ basketball team to a win over Manawa.

The sisters teamed up to score 52 of the Wildcats’ points Nov. 17 in a 78-34 win over the Wolves.

Laney’s 21 points helped the visitors build a 38-18 halftime lead and she went on to lead all scorers with 33 points.

Meanwhile, Cali scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half.

Turnovers helped Wild Rose add to its lead in the second half, as the Wildcats outscored the Wolves 40-16.

Daisy Krueger and Olivia Santos led Manawa with seven points each, while Mya Bahr also finished in double figures for Wild Rose with 11 points.

Manawa also dropped its season opener Nov. 15 to Wautoma and will host Assumption at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29.
