SPASH grand slam seals comeback win over Marshfield

SPASH Panthers baseball found itself in early trouble against Marshfield on May 16 but came back to win in epic fashion.

Marshfield got on the board as Owen Griesbach hit an RBI single to put his team up 1-0. Mason Anderson drove in two runs with an RBI triple to give his team a 3-0 lead. A wild pitch brought another home another run to put SPASH at a 4-0 deficit.

The Panthers Adam Noskowiak drove in a runner with a single to make the deficit 4-1 in the bottom of the first inning. Willie Washington III hit an RBI single to cut the Marshfield lead in half 4-2.

At the top of the second inning, Anderson hit a three-run home run to give Marshfield a 7-2 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, SPASH chipped away at the Marshfield lead as Jonathan Trelka and Braden Marschke had back-to-back RBI singles to end the inning with a 7-4 deficit.

Griesbach extended the Marshfield lead in the top of the fourth with a two-run home run to give his team a 9-4 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, SPASH again started to mount a comeback as a bases-loaded walk made the score 9-5. Marschke had a two-run single to cut the Marshfield lead to 9-7.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, SPASH brought in another runner with a bases-loaded walk to cut the deficit to 9-8.

On the next at-bat, Calvin Roth gave SPASH the lead, as a shot to centerfield resulted in a grand slam that gave the Panthers a 12-9 lead, which would be the final score as SPASH closed out the game.
