SPASH softball handed first defeat by D.C. Everest

SPASH softball took on D.C. Everest in an early season Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup on April 8. Both teams came into the game undefeated, and looking to put a loss on their opponents’ record.

A sacrifice bunt by Addi Peskie drove in a run with bases loaded to give Stevens Point their only lead of the game in the bottom of the first inning to put the Panthers up 1-0.

D.C. Everest’s Mara Meverden drove in the tying run as she doubled deep to centerfield to make it a 1-1 score in the fourth inning. Taylor Freidel hit a single to take the lead as she drove in a runner. Aubrey Klatt scored a third run for D.C. Everest as she stole home to score 3-1.

In the top of the fifth inning, Piper Schulz extended the D.C. Everest lead as she hit a line drive to right field to score to make it 4-1.

Meverden added to her RBI total in the fifth inning as she drove in two runs to make it a 6-1 game.

Sydney Spear drove in the seventh and final run for D.C. Everest as she hit a groundball up the middle of the infield to put the final score to 7-1.
