Stevens Point Police Report

• August 15 – An officer heard over the radio that an unknown male had jumped on to a vehicle’s hood. The driver of the vehicle began to follow the unknown man.
• August 15 – A caller stated that an unknown male entered a Stanley Street business and proceeded to walk behind the counter and grab multiple items.
• August 15 – A caller was concerned about a vehicle that drove by slowly in front of a day care. The caller stated the driver looked like a father that is not supposed to have contact with a child at the daycare.
• August 16 – A woman noticed some streaks of dust on her TV stand and believed someone may have broken in. Officers found no damage to any windows or doors and no missing items.
• August 16 – A woman called to report she had been billed by Tsunami Express Car Wash for a monthly charge she did not sign up for. She advised she had already reached out to Tsunami Express Car Wash, her bank and the Better Business Bureau.
• August 16 – Large cars and trucks were performing burnouts in the parking lot of Dunham Sports. Upon law enforcement arrival, several of the cars and trucks left.
• August 16 – A minor was reportedly walking with his friends on the Post Road Bridge when a black Ford Fusion pulled up and the passenger of the vehicle asked the children if they were Jewish. When they replied they were not Jewish, the passenger of the vehicle reportedly called them an expletive and possible waved a firearm.
• August 17 – A traffic stop was conducted when a vehicle was seen driving without headlights. The traffic stop led to an arrest for OWI 1st Offense.
• August 17 – An officer was dispatched to The Square for a report of a female smoking from a glass pipe, the caller believed her to be smoking cocaine or methamphetamine.
• August 17 – An officer observed a vehicle disregard a red light on Clark Street. A traffic stop was conducted that led to the driver being arrested for OWI 1st Offense.
• August 18 – An officer responded to a disturbance at Days Inn and Suites on Division Street. Dispatch advised that a 22-year-old male was at the front desk and was “uncontrollable and yelling.”
• August 18 – A 31-year-old man was arrested at McDonald’s on Highway 10 for a fully extraditable warrant from Missouri.
• August 18 – An officer was dispatched to Kwik Trip off Highway 10 for a report of retail theft. The suspect of this retail theft is also believed to be connected to a retail theft at Kwik Trip on Church Street on the same day.
• August 18 – A juvenile male reported his bicycle as stolen.
• August 19 – Officers searched a wooded area near the Green Circle Trail and West Clark Street for a suicidal subject.
• August 19 – Officers responded to a trespassing complaint on Church Street. Ultimately, a male was arrested on a Wood County warrant and transferred to Wood County custody.
• August 20 – A man on Fourth Avenue and Prentice Street claimed to not know where he was. He stated he is recently homeless and requested an ambulance for feeling weak.
• August 20 – A man was found lying down in the gutter of a bus path on Strongs Avenue and Main Street. When asked to move, he stated it was better than the railroad tracks. The man continued to make comments about how he should be dead and that he was a mistake.
• August 20 – Officers were dispatched to Sixth Avenue for a disturbance and reports of a female yelling “he shouldn’t be hitting a pregnant girl.”
• August 20 – An officer recognized a male on the sidewalk while driving on West Clark Street. The male had an active arrest warrant and was arrested.
• August 20 – Officers were dispatched to River View Avenue for a suspicions person. Dispatch advised there was a male laying in front of a residence with a blue tarp over him.
• August 20 – A woman reported being the victim of fraud via a gift card scam.
• August 20 – Officers were dispatched to Lindbergh Avenue for a missing child. The child was later located and returned home.
• August 20 – Officers responded to Second Street for a report of a man looking through windows. Officers located the suspect and arrest him for Disorderly Conduct and issued a stalking letter.
• August 21 – An employer requested a welfare check on an employee who had not been to work in two days.
• August 21 – An officer was dispatched for a fraud complaint, to which dispatch advised the caller is out approximately $49,000.
• August 21 – An officer was shown a video of an individual urinating outside of a residence on River View Avenue.
• August 21 – A 79-year-old woman was approaching and yelling at children, including swearing, for several weeks. The woman was advised that this was her last warning to stop yelling at the children or she would be cited for Disorderly Conduct. The woman’s husband was spoken to as well, due to the woman’s dementia.
• August 21 – A group of children got into an argument that resulted in one child allegedly being struck with a broom handle.
• August 21 – A 32-year-old woman allegedly threw items inside a house and threatened to damage a vehicle outside the residence on Bliss Avenue.
• August 21 – A woman reported that a male let her children hold his dogs and then took a photo of her children holding the dogs without her permission. The woman confronted the man and deleted the pictured from his phone. The man told officers he meant no harm by taking the pictures.
• August 21 – A male was seen on camera in The Square using illicit substances and was later arrested and transported to the Portage County Jail for charges of possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.
• August 21 – A woman came into the Stevens Point Police Department to report her juvenile son as a runaway.
• August 22 – A 28-year-old man talked with an officer about shape shifting in the Shopko parking lot.
