Authorities have arrested a suspect in the attempted armed robbery at Farmers State Bank in King.

On Thursday afternoon, detectives with the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department took a 34-year-old rural Waupaca man into custody on a probation hold.

During questioning, the man told investigators about his involvement in the attempted bank robbery the day before his arrest.

At about 5 p.m. Wednesday, a man was seen putting on a mask as he entered the Farmers State Bank branch on County Road QQ.

A bank teller told investigators that the man appeared to be pulling something out from under his coat as if he were going to rob the bank. The teller shouted at him and he panicked and fled on foot. The suspect did not get any money.

After searching the area Wednesday, investigators found what they believe may be the suspect's clothing and mask.

The investigation is ongoing and will be referred to the Waupaca County district attorney's office.
