Floyd A. Swan of Waupaca, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 27, 1942, in Gary, Indiana to Floyd A. Swan and Julia M. (Mastabayvo) Swan.
Floyd, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. Floyd was raised in Almond, WI and graduated from Almond High School before embarking on a remarkable 40-year career at the Waupaca Foundry, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2004.
Floyd was a man of many passions. He found joy in woodworking, gardening, and raising his chickens. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at his cabin in Scandinavia, especially on Thursday nights, where he and his friends would gather to discuss and resolve many of the world’s problems.
His adventurous spirit led him on numerous fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips out west. Floyd cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, whether they were completing woodworking projects, enjoying four-wheeler rides, or visiting local establishments for lunch and a treat.
Floyd was an active member of the Waupaca Curling Club and dedicated countless hours to the Lions Club, particularly in volunteering for the Iola Car Show. His love for Corvettes was well-known, and he relished every opportunity to hit the road on a Corvette run, no matter the destination.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Joan Swan of Waupaca, his son; Brian (Cindy) Swan of Amherst, his daughter Denise (Aaron) Hanke of Waupaca, son David (Melanie) Draska of Scandinavia, daughter Debbie Schwenn of Waupaca, his grandchildren; Alex (Brittany) Hanke of Minneapolis, Lizzi Hanke of Eau Claire, Tyler (Katie) Hanke of Waupaca, Brett Hanke of Minneapolis, Dylan (Emily) Draska of Iola, Lanna (Bryant) Boyle of Iola, Ava and Luke Schwenn of Waupaca, and Saxon and Tucker Swan of Amherst; his brothers, Alfred Swan of Waupaca, Mark (Barbara) Swan of Lake City, MN, and his sister, Patricia (David) Menke of Appleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Richard Swan and Gregory Swan.
Floyd’s life was a testament to his dedication to family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service for Floyd will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, Wisconsin. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
