A 17-point halftime deficit turned to be too big of a hole for the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team.
The Thunderbirds trailed Shiocton 30-13 at the break of their Central Wisconsin Conference East Division matchup Jan. 7 and ended up on the short end of a 48-35 score.
Larissa Young scored 10 of her team-high 13 points in the first half for Shiocton, while Jaelyn
Sivertson led the T-Birds at the break with five.
The T-Birds outscored the visitors 22-18 in the second half.
Iola-Scandinavia’s Lilly Fuhs led all scorers with 15 points.
The T-Birds will begin a stretch of three straight road games Friday, Jan. 10, at Bonduel. Their next home game is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23, against Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
