A fast start led to the win for the Iola-Scandinavia boys’ basketball team and a loss for the Manawa Wolves.

The Thunderbirds scored the first 13 points and went on to post a 73-45 Central Wisconsin Conference-East win on Dec. 17.

Manawa got back into the game with a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 15-10, but that was as close as the Wolves would get.

An 11-2 run late in the first half helped the Thunderbirds take a 35-18 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Wolves opened the second half with a 7-1 run to cut the lead to 11 points and later trailed 44-34, but a 13-3 run from the Thunderbirds pushed the lead back to 20 points.

Alex Robbins led three Iola-Scandinavia in double figures with a game-high 21 points. RJ Opperman and Ryan Thulien added 11 and 10, respectively. Logan Zirbel led Manawa with 10 points.
